Resolving your legacy print equipment headaches

Replacing Legacy Print Systems

Do you have a problem relating to legacy print equipment? Can't buy a replacement printer to work in your environment? We may well have a solution to your problem.

The IT industry is ever-changing. As time moves on, techniques and product offerings fall in and out of favour. Many businesses find that they're faced with a difficult choice when the printer model they've been depending on for many years can no longer be economically replaced.

The legacy problem usually boils down to data formats. Your application generates data in a format which was printed by a particular printer model, but which has been superceded by other common formats. When the printer goes end of line, you need to consider re-programming the application. Reprogramming an application is significantly more expensive than buying the printer hardware ever was. Solving the problem seems like it's going to give you some serious headaches!

We can help by slotting in a WML Print Platform appliance between your application and a new, generic printer of your choice. We aim to take your input, as-is, and re-format it in an industry standard format ready for a PostScript or PCL printer. We achieve this using our print emulations, our logic manager and our template and forms manager.

We help solve your immediate problem but even better, because PDF is our standard format, all your documents will be accessible as PDF using our software!

We can help with legacy problems including:

  • DEC Ansi print jobs
  • Kyocera Prescribe formatted print jobs
  • Replacing an in-printer forms-solution with our PDF templating system
  • Consolidating many desktop printers into a single workgroup printer
  • Plain formatted text jobs
  • Tally Genicom replacements

If you have a legacy problem, please give us a call to find out how we can help.

A daisywheel

This is a daisywheel, as used in late electric typewriters and in early printers. Now almost completely superceded by laser and inkjet printing systems. The other image is a rotating "Golfball" print head, from an IBM Selectric electric typewriter.
